Single Daily Action
It’s very simple, so it won’t take long to tell you about it.
The name of this tool is S.D.A.
S.D.A. stands for Single Daily Action.
But, it’s not just any sort of action.
It’s Consistent and Appropriate Action
John Milton Fogg has written an article about this tool named SDA, and this is what he says about consistent action:
> The first chunk of the Single Daily Action
> that gives it its awesome power is its consistent
> quality; i.e., it is done continuously and hence,
> has the kind of power that a simple stream of water
> has to wear away a ten-thousand-year-old rock.
> The SDA is done day-in, day-out.
> No excuse, Sir.
> It is as much a commitment itself as it is an expression
> of your commitment to your goal.
> Notice, it’s not the E O I A W D A
> Every Once In A While Daily Action.
> Nor is it the when-it’s-convenient…or,
> when-I-feel-like-it …or, whenever.
> It’s a Single Daily Action.
> The good news is that it’s Single.
> You only have one to do.
> The bad news
> – if it serves and empowers you to call it that
> – is that it’s done every day no matter what.
This SDA certainly does get results.
John and I have been carrying out
SDAs in all areas of our lives.
For example, we started a new strategy a couple of years ago.
John gave a quick call (about 50 seconds) to at least 10 people every day. The call was just to let people know that there’s real people behind our email messages.
My SDA was to send out email messages to people who have expressed interest in earning income online.
Our goal was to build up our business gradually, and partner at least 5 people a month.
By sticking to our SDAs, we reached our goal, and actually gone past it. One morning, John was feeling a bit tired, and said “I don’t think I’ll call anyone today”. Then, he said, “oh, maybe just one or two”. After the 2, it was just 2 more and so on, until he’d made 10 calls.
We used to do this almost every day. Except when went scuba diving, or we’re on holidays or weekends away.
This SDA is very powerful tool keeps people on track, to produce the results needed and wanted to reach our goals – whatever those goals are.
Lots of people use a number of different SDAs to support them in many areas of their lives.
John Milton Fogg suggests some different SDAs:
One SDA might be to spend one half hour with each of your children per day.
Another might be to run three miles.
You could have an SDA that kept you in daily communication with your husband or wife, or…
Fill in this space puh-lease??!!??!
One for leisure or pleasure: ”I’ll read for 15 minutes every day before bed,” or, “I’ll listen to classical music one > hour every day.”
The SDA is servant, not master. And it is one of the most powerful servants I’ve ever found for accomplishing all your goals.”
Let us know if an SDA helps you to achieve your goals.
bye for now,
John and Julieanne
